Future Choices Fair 2019

On Wednesday 5 October, The Weald School opened its doors for its 23rd Future Choices Fair, the flagship event in our rolling careers programme.

With over 600 attendees, The Fair was open to students across all year groups. The evening is designed to empower students to make informed decisions about their future choices, whether they are considering apprenticeships, further or higher education or employment.

Throughout the evening, students networked with business professionals gaining first-hand insight into entry routes, experience required to break into particular industries along with employability skills and raising awareness of the number of career opportunities available in the world of work.

With in excess of 40 exhibitors, the Fair showcased employers such as Western Sussex NHS Trust, Coco’s Billingshurst, Thomas Keating Ltd and PMW Communications; Further and Higher Education Institutions Northbrook College, Chichester College, Universities of Sussex, Brighton, Plymouth College of Art, Kent and of course our very own outstanding Weald Sixth Form.

Parallel interactive sessions also ran alongside the exhibition about Apprenticeships, the importance of STEM careers and UCAS & student finance.

Sarah Wilson, Careers and Work Experience Manager at The Weald explained why The Weald places such importance on events like these:

"With so many options and information now available, Future choice planning can be a complicated process.  We want to make it easy and engaging for all students. Along with support from us and their families, its important students take the opportunity to think about their future and take ownership of these big decisions early on."

Presentations from the Year 10 & Year 11 talks that took place on the evening will be available on the school website www.theweald.org.uk under Teaching and Learning, Year 11 Future Choices. A big thanks to everyone that supported the event, particularly our exhibitors. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!  If you would like to exhibit your company next year and talk to students about Careers in your industry please email careers@theweald.org.uk. We look forward to welcoming you in October 2017.
