Christmas came early to The Weald School yesterday with the annual Christmas Community Party. Organised by our Community Captains in partnership with The Billingshurst Rotary and Lions Club, we welcomed almost 100 senior citizens from the local community to help us celebrate Christmas.

Refreshments, made by our Health and Social Care students, were served on arrival and a general knowledge quiz kicked off the festive fun. Party go-ers were then treated to a GCSE drama piece and a dance display by Dance Club pupils Mrs Sue Leigh, PE teacher, explained ‘we decided to base the dance on Cups from the film Pitch Perfect.  The students have worked really hard experimenting with ideas based on the actions that the cups make such as slide, tip and turn. We’re looking forward to showing off the finished product.’

The Weald Singers and Chamber Choir finished the event on a high by performing festive classics such as ‘Once in Royal David’s City,’ ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’ and ‘Ding Dong Merrily on High.’

Mr Matt Fry, Personal Development Co-ordinator at The Weald said "We look forward to this event every year. It's a great opportunity for students to engage with our local community and a fun, festive experience for all of us involved. Thank you to everyone for their support, especially the Community Captains, volunteers and Billingshurst Rotary and Lions Club who have been working tirelessly to ensure this is the best Community Party ever."
