Life in The Weald Sixth Form

The Weald Sixth Form is a fantastic place to begin your journey into higher education. It gives the perfect balance between fun activities to participate in and an incredible standard of teaching to set you up for life.

In 2020, Weald students also achieved another excellent set of A Level results:  75% of grades were at A*-C and 48% at A*-B. 26% of students achieved grades at A* and A. Results across the ability range were again very good. 100% of our students who applied to University gained places. A Level results consistently place us in the top 20% of schools nationally for outstanding progress.

Regardless of which course you intend to study you can be sure of an experience that will mean you are equipped with a great range of skills, well informed and enthused. The school offers a wide range of traditional and vocational subjects at AS, A2 and at BTEC Advanced and First levels. We also offer a Level 2 course (GCSE equivalent) for those looking to bridge the gap between GCSE and A Level. Most importantly, our students thrive in a welcoming and happy environment where they feel comfortable and fulfilled.

There are unique opportunities available here you won’t find anywhere else, in a friendly and welcoming environment. Our Charities Committee is a central contributor to the Sixth Form’s atmosphere, each year the Sixth Form supports a charity that the students choose. Throughout the year there are a wide variety of fund raising activities ranging from dress-up days to cake sales. This runs alongside the school’s long term Classrooms for Kenya project. The project involves a group of year 12 students going to Kenya each year to build classrooms in order to improve the quality of education for children in that country.

For those of you who love sport, there are a wide range of games including great rugby 1st and 2nd XV teams, successful U19 football squads that have frequently won a place at the county finals in recent years. More recently students have established a netball and hockey team.

There are lots of opportunities to take part in less formal competitions such as the fiercely competitive Pool Tournament! Our students enjoy a wide range of opportunities to go on educational visits, including trips to CERN and Iceland as well as more local trips to Hampton Court and different London galleries. Not only do these opportunities provide an exceptional basis for UCAS applications and CVs but they also help you to acquire useful skills for life. We encourage our students to develop a wide range of skills which will serve them well in the future. As our Sixth Form is part of an 11-18 school we are able to provide our students with enriching opportunities to support younger students with their learning and other aspects of their daily lives such as organisation and sports. These opportunities equip our students with an excellent range of skills for their futures.

We have an excellent track record of supporting students with their UCAS applications and guiding them in achieving a place at their preferred university. Last year all students who planned to go to university were successful in gaining a place at their Firm or Insurance choice of university. Our students successfully apply to the most competitive universities and courses as well as a range of other exciting apprenticeships, training and employment programmes.

The Weald provides excellent facilities for all its Sixth Form students. Great IT services are available across the school, as well as dedicated Sixth Form study rooms, Sixth Form computer suites and also our well-equipped LRC; this provides the perfect environment for independent study. The Sixth Form Centre is designed to give students space to work, but also relax and socialise. Our own canteen serves food of a high standard which is regularly reviewed by the students in Sixth Form student voice meetings. We are sure you will have an invigorating and stimulating education at The Weald Sixth Form and come away with the qualifications you deserve.

We hope that you will want to find out more about our Sixth Form. We are always very happy to see prospective students during the school day and throughout the year. If you missed our Open Evening, please contact 01403 787283 or email [email protected] for more information.
