Enterprising Year 10 students

As part of our Business in Enterprise programme, some of our Year 10 students recently took part in The National Business Challenge. This was set by Theo Paphitis to help students gain skills that can be transferrable to the World of Work.

As part of our Business in Enterprise programme, some of our Year 10 students recently took part in The National Business Challenge. This was set by Theo Paphitis to help students gain skills that can be transferrable to the World of Work.

Over 170 students took part in the day with teams of 6- 8 students working together to come up with an idea for a “product” that our School needs.  Ideas ranged from vending machines for stationery to using the school grounds to farm vegetables.  Congratulations to the winning team ‘The Powerhouse’ which consisted of Harry Thomas, Max Thornett, Freya Thornton, Joseph Tiplady, Rhys Titcombe, Callum Trevelyan-Clark and Dominik Trzesoik. They wanted to develop a healthy tuck shop, located outside the Leisure Centre, which would sell protein shakes and energy bars to both the local community and students.

Upcoming highlights in our rolling careers programme include the Year 9 Careers Speed Dating event on Friday 22 January and The Future Choices Fair on Wednesday 10 February, which see a wide range of exhibitors, such as local employers , Further and Higher Education Institutions and Apprenticeships Providers, come together to provide information and resources to Year 8-13 students. If you would like to exhibit at the Future Choices Fair, please email [email protected]
