Enchanting Harry Potter Studio Tour

"Welcome to Hogwarts!" The golden doors opened, transporting year 9 to the incredible world of JK Rowling's stories. Glittering Christmas trees lined the great hall and a replica festive feast including flaming Christmas puddings was laid out on the long tables. This was an amazing start to our tour of the movie studios.

The top section of the hall had been transformed to look like the Yule Ball for the very first time, with snow, icicles and an orchestra of magical instruments.

Students were in awe of the sets. The amazing level of detail, the hundreds of thousands of props, costumes and special effects made for a fantastic experience. We learnt how inventive camera angles, mechanical creatures and green screen video effects all played a part in creating the magical films.

As we explored the rest of the studio, we saw special-effect fires roaring in fireplaces, the Gryffindor common room was filled with Christmas treats and the detailed Hogwarts castle model was covered in a special blanket of snow.

Our students not only got a chance to ride on a broomstick, but next to the Hogwarts Express on platform 9  3/4 they got to push their trolleys laden with trunks through the wall!

The students really enjoyed their day spent on the set of the amazing Harry Potter films.
