Exam Results and Ofsted Report
Weald School Examination Results - 2017
The school has done well in recent years and has achieved record results. In our October 2013 Ofsted inspection, we were delighted that the school was judged to be “outstanding” in all categories.
In 2017 we exceeded our best previous GCSE performance as a school with 75% of students achieving 5 or more A*-C/4 grades or better, including English and maths. 77% of students achieved both English and maths GCSEs at a 4 or above. We were particularly delighted at students’ performance on the new Progress 8 scale which measures progress from KS2 to KS4. Progress in the best eight subjects was +0.72. This means that students here at The Weald make on average +0.72 of a grade more progress in each GCSE than students in the rest of the UK. 100% of our students who applied to University gained places. Our results for 2016 and 2017 place us in the top 5% of schools nationally for progress.
In 2017 The Weald also achieved another excellent set of A Level results: 77% of grades at A*-C, 56% at A*-B and 35% at A* and A. 17% of students achieved grades at A*, nearly twice the national average. Results across the ability range were again very good.
Our long term results place The Weald as one of the highest performing non-selective Sixth Forms in West Sussex and the South of England, and in the top 10% of schools nationally in terms of student progress.
