New Year 7 Students
Year 7 of 2017:
We would like to take this opportunity to say what a successful start to the year our year 7 students have made. They have settled well into life at The Weald and are showing great promise; arriving at school punctually, well prepared and looking smart in their new uniform. They are polite, confident and eager to learn. This is an excellent foundation on which to progress and we thank you for your continuing support in their positive, focused approach to school.
Year 7 of 2018:
Applications for students starting Year 7 in September 2018 must be made directly with West Sussex County Council Admissions North. Information on the process can be viewed on the following link :
https://www.westsussex.gov.uk/education-children-and-families/schools-and-colleges/school-places/secondary-school-places/ or by contacting West Sussex County Council Admissions North on 03330 142903 or email on firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note that it is the responsibility of parents to do this directly and you will not be prompted by West Sussex County Council.
For all prospective Year 7 students hoping to join us in September 2018 here are some important dates :
- Thursday 1st March 2018 – West Sussex County Council Offer day
- Tuesday 26th June 2018 – Year 6 Welcome day at The Weald
- Wednesday 27th June 2018 – Year 6 Welcome Evening at The Weald
Every year we take between 30-60 students from outside of our catchment area. This gives students from outside our catchment area a very good chance of getting into the The Weald.
West Sussex County Council will advise parents directly if they have been offered a place at The Weald. They will communicate this over a 24 hour period on Thursday 1 March by email, if supplied, or by letter.
The Weald School will send ‘Welcome Packs’ to new parents the week beginning 5th March and ask that consent forms and information is returned to us by Friday 23rd March 2018.
If you have not been offered a place with us at this stage but would like a place at The Weald there is still a really good chance of this. Every year we take about 30 students from our waiting list after the initial allocation of places. This is due to students taking places in Independent schools or moving area. Nearly all our catchment students who wanted a place with us have one so the majority of places from the waiting list that are offered from now on will go to families outside of our catchment area. For more information and to be kept up to date with any developments in this process, please contact the school.
