Key Stage 3 (Years 7 and 8)
At The Weald we have devised an innovative and enriching curriculum in order to maximise the achievement and enjoyment of students. Along with many other high performing schools we have moved to a two year Key Stage 3 which gives all students the entitlement to follow a broad, balanced curriculum. We have developed our own well-integrated systems to track and monitor student achievement to ensure progress for all over the two years.
Key Stage 4 (Years 9, 10 and 11)
As our KS3 is two years, we are able to offer an extended three year Key Stage 4. This allows us to offer a range of examined and enrichment courses in order to broaden the experience and enjoyment of all students who can choose the most suitable pathway to maximise their potential.
A flexible approach will allow students to take examinations after two or three years at a time that is appropriate for their ability and aptitude. Those students who have completed a subject by the end of Year 10 will then have the opportunity to take another course, begin AS level or complete a GCSE in one year.
In addition to GCSEs we also offer a range of vocational qualifications and diplomas. Some students will have the opportunity to continue vocational courses with one day a week at a local college.
Key Stage 5 (Sixth Form)
The Sixth Form College has its own identity and ethos, promoting individual excellence within a caring and supportive community. Our Sixth form students work hard to achieve very strong examination results and we are extremely successful in working with students to achieve places at their chosen universities, FE colleges and work or training placements. The majority of students study with us for 2 years, although some follow courses which last for 1 year. Students typically study 4 subjects in their first year in the Sixth Form and then continue with 3 of their subjects in their second year. Full details of our Key Stage 5 curriculum choices can be found in the Sixth Form prospectus within our dedicated "Sixth Form" area of our website.
