The Weald School was alive with the sounds of laughter and tears of joy as students received their A level results this morning. The school was celebrating another bumper set of results with 88% of grades at A*-C and 65% A*-B and 39% at A* and A. 14% of students achieved grades at A*, nearly twice the national average. These are amongst the school’s best ever results.  Headteacher Peter Woodman said, “It has been fantastic to watch students as they get their results and see that their hard work over the last two years has paid off. Results across the ability range are again very good with our average grade per entry the highest it has ever been. Nearly two fifths of all grades achieved were at A* or A. Well done to students, staff and parents! The Weald celebrates its 60^th anniversary in September and it is fantastic to go into this with some of our best A level results ever”.

Over 90% of students gained entry to their university of first choice. Notable successes included Eleanor Schirn, 3A*s 1A, who will study Maths at Durham University, Chloe Billingham 2A*s 2As who will study Natural Sciences at Cambridge University,  Dominic Fritche, 1A* 2As, who will study medicine at UCL and Emma Weston, 3As, who will study dentistry.

Head of Sixth Form, Tom Backshall, said “About 80% of our students will go onto University with the vast majority getting in with their first choice. Whilst we are thrilled with our headline figures and congratulate the students going to some of the major Russell group Universities, we are just as pleased when students achieve their target grades and gain entry to their course of choice wherever it is across the country. This morning it was really uplifting to see that the hopes and dreams of so many students had come to fruition”.
