DofE Bronze Awards Ceremony

On Thursday 9th March The Weald School held its first ever Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award Ceremony with over 150 students, members of the community and parents in attendance.

David Longmore from The West Sussex County Duke of Edinburgh Department made a speech congratulating the students and presented the awards.

This year they had the highest ever completion rate with 97% of students achieving their Bronze DofE Award.

Esther Mead, DofE coordinator at The Weald, said “it was a fantastic group of students to work with who all performed exceptionally well under very testing conditions. I look forward to seeing them achieve the Silver Award next year”.

Students had to undertake a challenging set of tasks, some involved enduring sub-zero temperatures and torrential rainfall.

Peter Woodman, Headteacher at The Weald, said “I’m really pleased to see so many students take the opportunity to succeed in completing the award. They have worked extremely hard and should be very proud of themselves, it is a great achievement.”
