Students and staff at The Weald School were celebrating last week after receiving a national award  for the exceptional attainment of its students in the 2014 GCSE examinations.  The School is now listed in the top 20% of non-selective schools nationally for high average grades.

SSAT, the Schools, Students and Teachers Network, recently undertook its annual in-depth analysis of official Department for Education data on all state-funded schools in England and identified The Weald School’s success.

Sue Williamson, Chief Executive of SSAT said:

“The Weald School should be congratulated for their exceptional achievement. They have proved themselves to be leading the field in improving GCSE outcomes for their students. There is so much good practice that this school could share, and I hope they will join us at the celebration evening for the chance to network and share strategies with award-winning schools.

These results are testament to the commitment and hard work of the students, teachers and leadership team at The Weald School and show what can be achieved when skilled teachers have high expectations and ambition for every young person. I am proud that this school is a member of the SSAT network.”

On receiving the Award, Peter Woodman, Head teacher of the Weald School said:

“We’re thrilled to receive this national recognition for our wonderful GCSE results. It’s a credit to the hard work, dedication and determination of both our students , staff and their families. We’d also like to wish all our current students the best of luck with their exams.”
