On Saturday 21 November Ellie Smith, Natasha Duxbury, Rebecca Barber and Ethel Whyman represented the Weald School at the English Schools’ Swimming Association Finals at the London Aquatic Centre.

The team did a fantastic job beating 250 other schools in earlier rounds to claim their place in the final and out of 30 schools, placed 12th overall on the day.

The girls’ biggest success came in the Medley Relay Final (Ethel backstroke, Rebecca breaststroke, Ellie butterfly and Natasha freestyle) which after a very close finish came 8th with a time of 2:20.22

It was a fantastic achievement by the girls especially as they were competing against many private sporting schools such as Millfield, Plymouth Leander and Mount Kelly who all had national swimmers competing.

Shani Goacher, PE Teacher at The Weald said “The girls did a great job representing the School at the national finals. Congratulations, we’re all really proud of you!.”
