Our Girls Football Teams are currently training with Crawley Town Football Club as part of their outreach programme to encourage more girls to take part in the sport. Funded by the Football League Trust, this 10 week initiative provides a structured coaching programme to help improve their game by focusing on specific skills such as ball mastery, passing and receiving and switching play.

Aaron Conniff-Broome, Crawley Town Community Foundation Coach said of The Weald teams ‘It’s wonderful coaching such an established team of motivated girls that are keen to learn. Hopefully this training programme will teach them new skills that will go on to support and inspire them to maintain and develop their relationship with football.’

Nicole MacKay, Centre Midfielder for the Under 14 team said ‘As a lifelong football fan, this is such a great opportunity for us to learn from professionals and apply the new skills directly into a match situation.’

Girls Football has been running for over 10 years at the Weald. All our teams are currently enjoying very successful seasons in the North and Mid Sussex Area Girls Football League. Particular highlights have been the Under 12’s 17-0 win against Holy Trinity; Under 14’s 8-0 win against Hazelwick and Under 16’s 7-1 win over Holy Trinity.

Teams train once a week, every Thursday, during the Autumn and Spring terms and participate in a large number of matches throughout the season.  Miss Karen Ashcroft, Head of PE 'Everyone’s welcome and we’re always on the lookout for new members’ of any experience. You can sign up by coming to the PE office.'
