Students at The Weald achieve extremely well. The Government’s new national achievement measure is called “Progress 8”. The three year rolling average progress score for students at The Weald put us in the top 10% of schools nationally with a score of +0.50. This means that students score on average +0.50 GCSE grades higher for each GCSE they take in comparison with students from similar starting points nationally.

With over 3000 secondary schools in England, this puts The Weald in the top 300 schools in the country. Progress 8 tells us how well pupils have progressed between the end of primary school and the end of secondary school (Year 11), compared to pupils in other schools who got similar results at the end of primary school. This is based on results in up to 8 qualifications, which include English, maths, 3 qualifications including sciences, computer science, history, geography and languages, and 3 other additional qualifications.

Achievement post 16 (Year 13) is equally high. Our value added or progress scores post 16 put the performance of students from The Weald in the top 20% of schools nationally.

Further information on the school’s performance can be found on https://www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk/school/126068

A fantastic cast of Weald actors performed to a full school hall, for our end of year production of Arthur Miller’s 'The Crucible'. The play is a fictionalised version of events which took place in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692-3. In the story, Abigail, the minister’s niece (played by Year 12 student Lily Niblett), accuses several local women of witchcraft, and a witch hunt ensues. It’s a challenging and gripping play, and highlights how intolerance and hysteria can tear a community apart.
