Are you an experienced finance professional with a keen eye for detail, looking for your next career challenge? The Weald School is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Finance professional to join our Finance Team from Oct/Nov 2026 onwards.

The Weald is a high-achieving, popular and oversubscribed 11-18 comprehensive school, situated in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, 10 minutes from Horsham, 35 minutes from Guildford and Brighton, and an hour by train to London.  The school has an excellent record of academic and pastoral achievement and we pride ourselves in creating a caring and respectful ethos where every child is important.

Working closely with the School Business Manager, Senior Leadership Team, staff, and Governors, you will play a key role in delivering an efficient and effective financial management service across the school. You will lead the finance team in maintaining robust financial controls, overseeing financial processes, and ensuring the provision of a smooth, professional, and reliable service that inspires confidence among stakeholders.

The role requires strict adherence to all WSCC financial regulations, procedures, and audit requirements. Key responsibilities include reconciling bank accounts, preparing BACS payment runs, processing purchase orders and invoices, managing financial transactions, and monitoring income and expenditure. You will provide accurate and timely financial information and support to the School Business Manager, contributing to the school's strong financial management and governance.

The successful candidate will be able to work well as part of a team, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be highly organised and have the ability to meet tight, sometimes conflicting deadlines. Previous experience of working within a financial environment is essential and sound knowledge of school financial management systems would be desirable. You will have a passion and commitment to the delivery of an outstanding service and be ready to make your contribution to improved school outcomes for our young people.

We can offer you:

  • A commitment to continuous professional development opportunities
  • A strong, supportive leadership team
  • A school committed to improving outcomes and aspirations for all its pupils
  • A friendly, values-based and inclusive school community
  • An opportunity to work alongside a welcoming, inspiring and committed team where people are valued and well-being is important

If you think you have what it takes to join The Weald’s friendly and professional team we would love to hear from you.  We warmly welcome visits to the school from interested candidates.  Please contact Gráinne Victor, Business Manager (gvictor@theweald.org.uk), if you would like to arrange a visit.

Applications should be made by downloading and completing our application form (please see attachments below) and emailing it to jobs@theweald.org.uk

The closing date for applications is 10am Monday 6 July 2026.  Interviews are planned for Tuesday 14 July 2026.
