Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award
At the weekend, 17 Year 12 and 13 students explored the very soggy New Forest for their practice expedition for Silver D of E Award. It was hard work, as conditions underfoot (and under tent on the first night) were distinctly damp and proved challenging...as did the navigation of the forest.
Students proved to be fine representatives of the Weald and were stoical in the face of wild ponies and roaming cattle, boggy terrain and pathless forest and heath. They certainly learnt how to use their compasses. Very well done to them and they will now prepare for the qualifying expedition in Ashdown Forest in July.
