The Weald Celebrates Excellent Exam Results

Another year of excellent exam results for the Weald in 2013

The Weald School has achieved yet another year of excellent A Level and GCSE results. This once again raises the already excellent standards that have been set over the past five years. The School would like to congratulate all students and staff who have worked so hard to contribute to individual and school success. The very high expectations that we set for ourselves, to maintain and improve our academic standards, have once again been achieved. This is of credit to all involved.

GCSE Results

Whilst so many students have achieved their personal goals there have also been some truly exceptional performances. Grace Wyman and Benedict Welch both achieved a fantastic 11 A* whilst Isabelle Hollander achieved 10A* and 1 A whilst James Colvin achieved 9 A* and 1A. Headteacher Peter Woodman commented “It is really pleasing to see that our results have continued to improve despite the national squeeze on standards. Over a third of entries at GCSE were at A* or A and 92% of students achieved 5 or more GCSEs at A*-C with 68% achieving this including English and Maths. More students than ever have achieved their target grades so we are really pleased that achievements across the whole ability range have been maintained. We are extremely proud of the results our students have achieved. They have put themselves in an excellent position to move onto their next step in education.

A Level Results

Students celebrated a bumper crop of A level results with 28% of grades at A/A*, 60% of grades at A*-B and84% of grades at A*-C. Headteacher Peter Woodman commented

"Our results have continued to improve despite a national tightening on grades. Students have achieved the highest average point score per entry in the school's history". Some 21 students achieved the equivalent of 3 grade As or better.

Star performers included Chris Khoo who achieved 5 A* to secure his place at Robinson College Cambridge to study Natural Sciences. Other high achievers included Dan Pettitt with 3A* &1A, Cameron Thompson with 2A* & 2A and Josephine Burgin with 2A* & 2A.
