An Invitation for Parents/Carers and Children
We would like to invite you and your child to join us at our Open Evening at The Weald School on Thursday 23 September 2021, from 5.00pm until 8.30pm. You will find our current school prospectus and information attached below.
We warmly welcome all families with students due to transfer to secondary school in September 2022 or later, to our Open Evening, to see what The Weald School has to offer. Our invitation extends both to families living within our catchment area and outside it. We often welcome pupils to the school from further afield and they always bring real strengths to the school. As a very popular school, we are aware that some parents who do not live in our immediate catchment may not apply for a place at The Weald in case we are oversubscribed. However, we usually welcome around 40 students from non-catchment area addresses each year. This was the case in 2021, and we anticipate being the case in 2022 as well.
Our forthcoming Open Evening will provide an opportunity for you to see The Weald at work, hear about exciting developments that have recently taken place and talk to some of our staff and students.
5.30pm, 6.00pm, 6.30pm, 7.00pm and 7.30pm
Short presentation in the main school hall with senior staff and me, plus Weald School students
The presentation by me will give a brief overview of our work at The Weald, particularly focusing on the welcome new students can expect in September 2022. Parents/carers and children will then be able to see the school in action!
Although at the time of writing, there are no national or regional restrictions in place for Covid-19, we think it is prudent to make some amendments to our usual programme in order to minimise any potential spread of the virus. There will be a limit of 100 people in the audience for the presentations, but we will run the same presentation 5 times throughout the evening so that everyone who wishes to attend may do so. Please indicate which presentation you would like to attend by completing this form: https://bit.ly/38T0S3k. In addition, we would be grateful just one adult and one child could attend from each family. Finally, we will be operating a one-way system for our tours around the school, as far as possible. The presentation, introductions from each department and talks from students will be available on our website after the event.
It is not compulsory to attend one of the presentations in order to join us for the evening; parents/carers and children are welcome to come and have a tour of the school without seeing a presentation if they wish. Also, if you have any special circumstances we need to be aware of to make the evening more accessible for you, please don’t hesitate to let us know by emailing us at [email protected].
Between the presentations, parents and children will have the opportunity to explore the school. On arrival you will be given a programme and directed towards students from our Sixth Form and current Year 7 and 8, who will be on hand to act as guides and answer any questions you might have. Each subject area will display examples of work and learning activities so you can gain a clear insight into the wide range of facilities on offer to your children when they enrol at The Weald.
Refreshments will be available in our cafeteria in E block. We extend a very warm welcome to you and your child, and look forward to meeting you on Thursday 23 September.

CAR PARKING AT THE WEALD OPEN EVENING
As a growing and very popular school, car parking is always at a premium at our Open Evenings and after school events. As such we would like to advise you of the most convenient areas for you to park on Open Evening night.
The Weald School is situated adjacent to the Billingshurst Community Swimming Pool. If you are parking in the car park off the Station Road entrance, please ensure you do not park in spaces allocated to the Leisure Centre/Swimming Pool (the blue parking bays) but park in the white parking bays allocated to the school.
On the evening, we will have students onsite to help direct you to our available onsite parking areas. As our Open Evening takes place after students have left, our school bus lanes can also be used for parking.
We strongly advise parents and children to walk or car share where possible.
There is additional parking at the following locations:
- Sixth Form Car park (Luxford way)
- Billingshurst Train Station car park. Pay & Display charges apply prior to 6pm
- Myrtle Lane car park (33 spaces). Pay & Display charges apply prior to 6pm
- Billingshurst Primary School (from 6pm) limited spaces – please park considerately
If you have any access requirements or needs please contact [email protected]
