Weald Mock Election

As the country went to the polls in one of the tightest general elections, students at The Weald got involved, experiencing democracy first hand with their own Mock Election on Thursday 8 June.

Mock Elections actively engage students with the democratic process and shows how politics affects their everyday lives.

Students gained hands on insight into how the election works and had the chance to investigate what each of the political parties stood for in this election. Students also had the opportunity to vote for their party of choice. Mr Fry the SMSC Coordinator said "it was interesting to see whether students voted similar to their parents or different. The election gives us a great opportunity to discuss politics first hand, debate what is important to our young people in their communities and establish what is important to them nationally."
