Character Framework
At The Weald, we are constantly seeking to develop our students' skills. We frequently evaluate our curriculum and the wider experiences we offer our young people to ensure we provide the optimum learning environment. Over the course of 2018-19, we revamped our Character Framework, with the help of a wide range of students, staff, parents and governors. We are delighted with the end product, which has character education at its heart and entirely supports our ethos of academic excellence and broader participation.
There are 4 main elements that we consider to be the most important to us as a community: well-being, enthusiasm, self-awareness and gratitude. Each element is broken down into specific areas so that we can be explicit about what we expect. There are multiple opportunities to discuss and develop skills in these areas, including assemblies, form time activities, Personal Development lessons and in fact in every interaction across the school. Please talk to your child about this new framework and help us to develop these key skills and attributes in our young people.
